IT Technician ( Level 2)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Chewton Mendip

Salary: £28,000

The Level 2 Technician will play a critical role in providing technical support and assistance to staff and students. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Level 2 Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving IT issues, maintaining IT systems and equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of technology within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide frontline technical support to staff and students, troubleshooting and resolving IT issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware, software, and peripherals.
  3. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including system updates, patches, and backups, to ensure the reliability and security of IT systems.
  4. Install, configure, and support software applications used within the organisation, including productivity suites, educational software, and specialized tools.
  5. Assist with the setup and support of audio/visual equipment for presentations, meetings, and events.
  6. Collaborate with the Level 1 Technicians and other IT staff to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
  7. Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to build a knowledge base and improve support efficiency.
  8. Provide user training and support, including the creation of user guides and instructional materials.
  9. Assist with IT inventory management, including procurement, asset tracking, and disposal.
  10. Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in the IT field, and share knowledge with colleagues.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support role, preferably in an educational or similar environment.
  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office suite, as well as other common software applications.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a dedication to providing high-quality support and service.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) are advantageous.B2

IT Field Technician

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £25,000

The successful candidate will work closely with both our 1st and 3rd line technicians. Strong communication skills and troubleshooting abilities are essential. A minimum of two years’ hands-on experience in a 1st line, customer-facing role is required, while any 2nd line experience would be advantageous.

Given that our network spans multiple locations, a valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required Technical Skills:

  • Installation of IT hardware and software.
  • Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 7 and above).
  • Windows Server (2012 R2 and newer).
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory, File Permissions, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking (routing & switching).
  • Experience with Exchange, Office 365, and PowerShell.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum: 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths) or an equivalent professional IT qualification

Desirable Technical Skills:

  • Capita SIMS (server & client-side).
  • Veeam Backup solutions.
  • Apple product support.
  • Ubiquiti networking products.
  • VOIP systems.
  • Microsoft Azure.
  • IP CCTV Systems & Access Control (Paxton)
  • Personal Attributes:

Support Engineer

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £28,000

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all IT activities. This includes ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, and providing technical support to staff and students. The successful candidate will report directly to the senior AIT HQ team and collaborate closely with other stakeholders to implement IT strategies and initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in IT management roles, preferably in an educational or similar setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and protocols, including hardware, software, networking, and security.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and other IT service management practices.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or ITIL are desirable.
