We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Manager to join our team and lead IT operations within our local area.

Position Overview:

The IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing all IT activities within the local area of Bentley Wood Trust. This includes managing a team of technicians, ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, and providing technical support to staff and students. The IT Manager will report directly to the senior AIT HQ team and collaborate closely with other stakeholders to implement IT strategies and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage a team of IT technicians, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.

2. Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT systems, including hardware, software, and networking infrastructure.

3. Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance, security, and efficiency.

4. Coordinate with the senior AIT HQ team to align local IT initiatives with broader organizational goals and strategies.

5. Provide technical support to staff and students, resolving issues promptly and effectively to minimize downtime and disruptions.

6. Manage IT projects within the local area, from planning and budgeting to implementation and evaluation.

7. Monitor IT performance metrics and KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.

8. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in the field of IT, and recommend innovations to enhance operational effectiveness.

9. Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure IT equipment, software licenses, and support services.

10. Prepare regular reports and updates for the senior AIT HQ team, summarizing IT activities, achievements, and challenges within the local area.

Qualifications and Skills:

– Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

– Proven experience (5+ years) in IT management roles, preferably in an educational or similar setting.

– Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

– Comprehensive knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and protocols, including hardware, software, networking, and security.

– Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.

– Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

– Project management experience, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate IT projects on time and within budget.

– Familiarity with ITIL framework and other IT service management practices.

– Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or ITIL are desirable.

ICT Level 2 Technician

The Level 2 Technician will play a critical role in providing technical support and assistance to staff and students within the local area of Bentley Wood Trust. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Level 2 Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving IT issues, maintaining IT systems and equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of technology within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide frontline technical support to staff and students, troubleshooting and resolving IT issues in a timely and efficient manner.

2. Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware, software, and peripherals.

3. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including system updates, patches, and backups, to ensure the reliability and security of IT systems.

4. Install, configure, and support software applications used within the organisation, including productivity suites, educational software, and specialized tools.

5. Assist with the setup and support of audio/visual equipment for presentations, meetings, and events.

6. Collaborate with the Level 1 Technicians and other IT staff to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.

7. Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to build a knowledge base and improve support efficiency.

8. Provide user training and support, including the creation of user guides and instructional materials.

9. Assist with IT inventory management, including procurement, asset tracking, and disposal.

10. Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in the IT field, and share knowledge with colleagues.

Qualifications and Skills:

– Diploma or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

– Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support role, preferably in an educational or similar environment.

– Strong technical skills in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.

– Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office suite, as well as other common software applications.

– Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

– Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

– Customer-focused mindset with a dedication to providing high-quality support and service.

ICT Field Technician

These Roles are best suited to candidates who have strong customer facing skills and good general IT knowledge. The position will be mostly field based, with some remote and telephone support work when required.

Main Duties & Experience

  • Provide support across the estate. mainly within a Microsoft Infrastructure
  • Have a good working experience of Active Directory, Roaming Profiles, DNS, DHCP & RDS
  • Identify root causes of recurring incidents
  • Respond to and resolve tickets

ICT Senior Technician

Nottingham Office

Are you a driven, ambitious and professional ICT Technician that is looking for growth and expand their career? AIT are seeking an experience ICT Senior Technician to join our HQ Central Team in Nottingham.

This role is best suited to a candidate who has extensive experience who can deliver reliable and consistent support to our clients. As a Senior ICT Technician, you will need to support the delivery of  technical services as well as maintain reliable IT Services for our schools. 

Main Duties & Experience

  • Ensure Managed Service Schools’ infrastructure is operating smoothly
  • Standardising school setups including Veeam, SCCM, Aruba, Password Policies etc.
  • Identify and report improvements and opportunities to Service Manager (SM)/Technical Account Manager (TAM)
  • Assist in technical audit reviews for new clients and existing where required
  • Provide technical assistance/information as requested in order to provide quotes for new equipment/projects
  • Create and maintain documentation such as SoW, Disaster Recovery plans, etc.
  • Creating procedures and user guides for technicians such as Templates for frequent tasks, IP addressing, change control, etc.
  • Monitor skill levels of onsite technicians
  • Ensure onsite technicians are trained in the use of the Business Management System and are able to access internal resources required for their job
  • Oversee implementation of new software and hardware
  • Liaise with 3rd party service or software providers
  • Attend review meetings as required
  • Regular visits to schools to Review tickets, discuss any issues raised by on-site technicians, assess technician workload, and provide support and advice to technicians where required
  • Attend School Health and Safety, Safeguarding, and Security training and adhere to procedures and provide report anything that is cause for concern to the school contact and Service Manager
  • Assist with general helpdesk role when required
