FULLY SUPPORTED
IT Support for Schools, Academies and Trusts
AIT are committed to providing comprehensive ICT support for schools and academies. We take care of everything, meaning you can focus on educating your pupils.
From a single-form-entry primary to a twenty-school trust, we support 249 schools and 20 multi-academy trusts across the UK — and unlike almost every other provider, we show you exactly how well we’re doing it. Our service levels aren’t buried in a contract appendix; they’re published, measured and reported to every school we work with, every month.

Get more than just a solid connection
Schools often ask ‘why outsource IT support?’. With the digital world constantly changing, so is our reliance upon technology. It has never been more vital to ensure that your school or academy has network and hardware that is not only functional but secure, safe and can withstand the daily requirements. With growing cyber security threats and malware, unpredictable things can happen, so it’s important that you have the right IT partner who’s with you every step of the way. AIT support goes beyond the traditional expectations of IT support, instead focusing on a tailored approach with personable staff, an understanding of teaching and learning and a forward-thinking style.
That partnership doesn’t stop at fixing what breaks. Because we only work in education, the same team that answers your tickets also delivers structured cabling and installations, broadband and connectivity, safeguarding-compliant filtering and long-term digital strategy — so your support provider, your installer and your strategic adviser are never three different companies pointing at each other.
Reliable Team
75 education specialists — service desk analysts, field engineers, network and cloud consultants — who work in schools and nowhere else. Term-time pressure, SATs week, results day: we plan our cover around your calendar, not ours.
Flexible Approach
Fully managed, on-demand or third-line escalation — and the freedom to change model as your school or trust grows. No two contracts we run are identical, because no two schools are.
Dedicated HQ Engineers
Your calls are answered by qualified engineers at our UK service desk — not a call-logging script. Most issues are resolved remotely at first contact, and anything that needs hands on site is scheduled with an engineer who already knows your network.
One-to-one Desktop Support
Teachers and office staff get direct, personal help in plain English, at the desk or over remote session — because a whiteboard that fails at 8:55am is a teaching emergency, not "ticket #4,721".
Support that fits the way your school works
Whether you need us to run everything, top up an internal team, or act as the escalation point behind your own network manager, there's a model that fits — and you can move between them as your needs change.
Fully Managed IT Support
Our roots are centralised around providing schools and academies fully managed IT support solutions. Each solution can be tailored towards the size and scale of the requirements, with dedicated routine onsite visits coupled with award winning remote IT support that’s complimented by a designated AIT Relationship Manager for a truly holistic solution. We understand that no two schools, sites or MATs are the same, so our team will work with your team to understand exactly what you need.
Best for: primary schools and secondary schools without in-house IT, and trusts centralising support across sites.
On Demand IT Support
We understand that one-solution doesn’t fit all, especially when it comes to IT support. As an IT support provider, we are committed to delivering exceptional solutions that meet your budget criteria and allow you to maximise your services. Our on-demand IT support solutions mean that you’ll be able to take advantage of our technicians via pooled hours and our fully managed service desk as and when you need it.
Best for: schools with occasional or project-based needs, and independent schools managing budgets term by term.
Third Line Support
Every school and MATs requirements are completely unique, and sometimes a remote support solution can be a great fit! Our in-house team of specialist IT technicians and consultancy team can act as the most senior level of escalation, fixing complex problems and ensuring your systems are robust to withstand the daily demands. Our managed third line support packages can be tailored to the size and scale of what is required; and with simple no-nonsense contracts – our third line support solutions are a great alternative!
Best for: schools and trusts with their own technicians who need a deeper bench behind them — we back your team, we don’t replace it.
Most providers promise a service level. We publish ours.
Ask any school IT provider about their SLAs and you’ll get a confident answer. Ask to see last month’s actual performance and the room usually goes quiet. We built our service around the opposite idea: if we’re going to hold ourselves to a standard, you should be able to see it — every ticket, every month, without asking.
Every ticket you raise is triaged against our published Ticket Priorities, so you know before you call what response to expect for a whole-school outage versus a single faulty laptop. And because our helpdesk measures itself in the open, your headteacher, business manager or trust board can see how we performed — not how we say we performed.
Illustrative figures — your school sees its own numbers in Helpdesk Reporting.
This isn’t a marketing exercise we run once a year. It’s how the service is managed every single day — and it’s why schools that join us from other providers tell us the biggest change isn’t the technology, it’s finally knowing what’s going on.
Helpdesk Reporting — included with our service, not sold on top
Every AIT support contract includes Helpdesk Reporting, our own reporting platform that turns your ticket history into answers a leadership team can actually use. There’s no premium tier and no per-seat licence — if we support your school, you have it.
- Executive overview — a one-page picture of your school’s support health for heads and business managers: open tickets, resolution trends and SLA performance for your school, this month and over time.
- KPI Insights — drill from headline figures into the detail: which rooms, devices or systems generate the most tickets, how quickly each priority is being resolved, and where recurring faults are hiding.
- Training insights — see the patterns behind the tickets. If one system generates a disproportionate share of how-do-I calls, that’s an INSET session waiting to happen — and the data to justify it.
- AI Assistant — ask questions in plain English (“what were our longest-running tickets last term?”) and get answers without waiting for a report to be built.
- Per-trust filters — for multi-academy trusts, compare performance school by school from one login. A central IT lead overseeing a dozen schools can spot the site that needs attention in seconds, not spreadsheets.
For trust leaders, this pairs naturally with AIT Horizon, where support performance sits alongside IT finance, compliance and strategy in one leadership view — but on this page, the point is simpler: you should never have to take your IT provider’s word for it.

SERVICE FOCUSED
Built on partnerships
We value collaboration, and that extends to every aspect of AIT; from partnerships with all our clients through to our specialist partnerships with leading hardware and software providers. By working together across the tech industry, we can help you achieve greater efficiencies, streamline processes and optimise resource allocation. AIT empower our Schools and MATs with carefully tailor IT Support solutions that extend well beyond that of traditional providers. We give you control over your budgets, implementation and project alignment so that your vision and strategic plans are always the end goal.
Since 2000, that philosophy has grown from a handful of local schools into a 75-strong team supporting 249 schools and 20 trusts across the UK — and the schools who joined us in our first decade are, overwhelmingly, still with us.

IT support for schools — your questions answered
Yes. We support 249 schools and 20 multi-academy trusts nationwide, from single-site primaries to trusts spread across multiple regions. Day-to-day support is delivered remotely by our UK service desk, with scheduled onsite engineer visits and project work arranged wherever your school is — our operations platform plans engineer scheduling around your sites, not around our postcode.
Every ticket is assigned a priority when it’s raised, and each priority carries a defined response and resolution target — a whole-school outage is treated very differently from a single user’s printing issue. The full matrix is published on our Ticket Priorities page, and your school’s own performance against those targets is visible in Helpdesk Reporting all year round, not just at contract renewal.
Absolutely — it's one of our most popular arrangements. Our Third Line Support packages put a 75-strong team of specialists behind your own staff: they keep the day-to-day, and escalate complex faults, projects and out-of-depth problems to us. Your technician gets a deeper bench and cover for absence; your school avoids paying for senior expertise it only needs occasionally.
No. Helpdesk Reporting — along with access to our other platforms through the Customer Portal — is included with our service, not sold on top. We built it because we believe schools should be able to see exactly what they’re getting from their IT provider; charging extra for that transparency would rather miss the point.
Three ways: log it through the Customer Portal, email the service desk, or call us on 0115 9170 197 and speak to an engineer directly. Urgent, teaching-affecting issues should always come by phone — they’re triaged as priority tickets the moment you call.
